These Z-11 conversions were done by combining amt’s 1963 impala and the very well done 1962 super stock bel air kits . While you can’t really see it in the pictures I cut the console out of the 63’s interior tub , and replaced it with the transmission tunnel that I cut from the bel air along with the bench seat , shifter and tach. I use the chassis with the raised front suspension, and cut down rear coil springs . Use the bel air’s 409 with the optional Z-11 parts. The fender wells were cut from the bel air’s body and glued to the chassis along with the radiator support, and firewall. Hubert’s  car is painted in testors metallic blue enamel with Fred Cady decals . Huston’s car is testors white enamel with smp decals . I’ve done quite a few of these Z-11 conversions and they’re such a joy to build . As always thanks for looking ?, Mike F581AD9B-ADF4-44C8-8B56-855C469C5357.thumb.jpeg.1f21479a9147b3f6aa1ff77953d3dce7.jpeg7C13E13F-F6B8-4E39-A935-F347EF564011.thumb.jpeg.9c3d6e43b234908a603904e0d66eaef6.jpeg1B78247A-3BA4-4C67-9548-8CEC9FF9C45E.thumb.jpeg.264b5e73853f8b1d015fc454e57b2156.jpeg0A140BCC-133B-4743-B102-4C1F63702DE9.thumb.jpeg.e5f8e15c346865d074ba59fd0f8866a9.jpeg598C8455-BD6C-4755-80C1-A18C49048518.thumb.jpeg.1aa8728f40798b8e3ae3c2f3e0008241.jpeg4C9784AE-95D2-4738-8C1B-00141E2E3B9A.thumb.jpeg.9b75cf774bafbaaf4187dc28db7ea989.jpeg2A0D0258-5C81-4D4F-86B9-1662C5EFF251.thumb.jpeg.5c9e838337994e89ef9b84bc6d487e92.jpegA85292DF-BD05-4EE9-B7B3-B68B52D88492.thumb.jpeg.aec40a5e25fa1239603a6631595731c8.jpeg336B8512-08D8-454D-B13A-EA28E3248EEE.thumb.jpeg.4dcdc99ae7a98bcbd41a6b4d6ef2c406.jpegACC0E9E4-BD5F-4F05-91C3-D41C2A261106.thumb.jpeg.3153a71675001ecaccc9f232e6d7e38e.jpeg23590CDA-0992-4EB9-843A-40AC42DCA61E.thumb.jpeg.1be995def3f5a38e0f810453bafd917e.jpeg43E0EB5F-9508-485A-977D-E8413CD870BA.thumb.jpeg.9d56ee0f092bc8af9c7a833827f28b38.jpegD968833E-D301-4CEB-9E12-B4880B386951.thumb.jpeg.b6ec68473123400423a2efa7b6498c5a.jpegFD10115C-B6AF-4D76-8DA5-6C7E87972F53.thumb.jpeg.564c64ec23361553912d658798448c0b.jpeg7FD754B7-A883-44F7-8CAE-1F205EBEAB57.thumb.jpeg.16fd4f4f7caeef6d5b304009b9d048a4.jpeg72106FD0-7ABF-4E96-B601-ADC1E432D769.thumb.jpeg.c14e166e674901667c4d53a89d4bd0b1.jpeg

That is a pretty cool build idea and nicely done.

Thanks Jeff I actually built these two about 10 years apart. I would really like to see slixx or someone make more platt decals especially Huston’s Dixie twisters

I have a set of Huston Dixie Twister decals.  I don't remember where I got them.  They are supposed to be the '65 fastback car, but I put them on an AWB '65 Chevelle.  I have held this set waiting for a good '64 Chevelle kit.

A 64 chevelle would be a great hit it out of the park curbside plus topic for round 2 . Of course you would need a 62 bel air super stock for the Z-11 parts, slicks, wheels etc.

Michael, so nice to see you and a few other guys here building and posting all these cool classic super stockers lately! These two Z-11 kit bashed Platt Brother cars are really well done, very realistic recreations and you nailed the period correct lowered rear end/ raised front end stance on both cars. I tried modeling Dave Strickland’s “Old Dependable” Z-11 using this old AMT kit a few years ago and really struggled with it. Revell’s recently tooled ‘62 Impala SS 409 hardtop is so much better a kit, I had fun doing a yellow Dyno Don car I posted recently. I wish Revell would release a new-tooled ‘63 Z-11 Impala with decals for these historic drag cars (or even better yet, a Z-33 “mystery motor” 427 Biscayne).

Thanks for the nice complement. I really like building these Z-11 kit bashes ,and I have decals to build about four more . I find the amt kits to have better body proportions than the revell kits. I do like there 62 impala and I’ve built quite a few into super stockers I’ll have to post some of them soon. This winter/spring I’ve been building mostly gassers and pro stocks. I was able to find the time to get six awb 65 Plymouths painted . However I’ll be so busy this summer I won’t have to much assembly time.
