I feel lucky. most of the local Hobby Shops in my area are doing good. the only that might close is because its in a bad area. my main hobby shop just moved into a bigger location, The local economy is doing pretty good since its based mostly on education and health care.

I try very hard to support my LHSs.

Every time I go, I always try and buy something.

It's just a shame that I stop by soo many of them.. ;)

I just wish my LHS would support modelers. I bought some Plastisruc rod from then two months ago. They only had ONE pack of each size. I figured one of each would work until they got more in. I was last week and they still had not replenished their stock

More over they had ZERO new kits. I would gladly pay the price for kits if they would stock them. Again R/C cars is their main money maker so us modelers get the short end of the stick.

Yeah, I found out last weekend when the wife wanted to go to Ft. Myers :( They still have their paint racks in the store and a '79 Monte Carlo on the shelf. I want that kit. I still need to call you so we can get together. Hopefully this weekend.

Pulled into the lot of our new hobby store in Farmington Hills Michigan - Nankin Hobby - on saturday afternoon and there wasn't a single parking space open...and they've got a pretty good size lot. It was great to see that much business. But then again I shouldn't be too surprised, as they've got their act together better than any hobby store in SE Michigan that I've visited since the original Riders Hobby Store and downtown Ann Arbor and its early spinoffs in Flint. Grand Rapids, and Kalamazoo....TIM

Tim,

Do they still have the Nankin store on Ford Rd, I think in Dearborn Hgts, or did they move it? They were heavy in trains and R/C when I retired from Ford 5 yrs ago but had a good selection of car kits and modeling supplies. It was a good lunch time stop along with Old Guard but you had to hustle to get out there and back in time! Is Joe's Hobby still open in Farmington Hills? I'm now in central Kansas and 90 miles from the nearest hobby shop in Wichita so it's either go there or mail order.
