Monty Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Dell Inspiron is around six years old and has been one of the best PCs I've ever owned. Lately, however, I'm seeing something that looks problematic. I like having YouTube (music etc) playing in the background while I'm on other pages (1:1 cars, models, crosswords) but recently after an hour or so the video dies, while the audio (YouTube) continues on. Cause? Fix?
Dave Ambrose Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 I would have someone capable (NOT GEEKSQUAD!!!) run diagnostics on it. It sounds like the video adapter is going bad. You can work around that by adding a cheap video card, but you want to know what's wrong first.
MeatMan Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 I recommend first checking with others to see if they are having the same prob. It could be that YT has added some feature to identify "presence" of a user. It takes a lot of bandwidth to send video. Also, speaking of bandwidth check your wifi speed. There could be issues with allocation. Since I've got the Firestick my daughter's complained about cutouts of her web connection. It could also be RAM. Windows is a resource hog and they keep adding stuff at every update that you'll never, or can't use. See what's running sometimes using the task manager and how much RAM is used. If none of those apply to you, by all means seek assistance. You can also use third party apps to run a diagnostic. I have Norton 360 and one comes with the package. Good luck.
