My girlfriend began taking an interest in the model car building hobby while watching my pops, my daughter and myself work on our builds off and on and wanted to give it a shot.  I had a Revell snap kit laying around, no box, just the bagged parts we had collected at a past NNL show and figured that would be a great starting point.  Not much to the build but cleaning up parts and adding a little detail.  A while back we started with the interior, added flocking and details trim details using the paint and chrome pen.  The other day I was shooting a model for a friend using some Kandy Apple Red basecoat, she liked the color so she got to try her hand with some paint work, the red laid down nice, this was shot directly over the red plastic the model came in, the body was cleaned up with a little 1500 wet sanding and washed with dawn soap.  She felt comfortable shooting the basecoat down but was scared of the clear, we used some Custom Shop clear, laid down pretty nice.  Wheels and tires were robbed from an AMT 63 Impala kit.

Smart to start her off on something not to difficult, you get to see results pretty quick. Plus those are very nice kits.

That paint is amazing! An all black interior is difficult to pull off, and that looks great!  I love to see women getting into the hobby. My granddaughter used to build with me, and I miss that. I hope your lady continues to build, she seems to have a natural talent for this.
