MPC Mountain Goat Jeep Commando question.

Not sure if this is the proper forum for this. but what is this part for and can it be used to mak the model look more like that classic Jeep front end or can you use it at all for this kit?

It's the remnant grille from the pre-Commando version, before the real version was restyled. It will not be of much use unless you find an original MPC Jeepster body shell.

Thanks Casey. I'll just wait until the older version gets re-issued.

Yea, I "THINK" you'd just need the right body. IIRC, all the other parts were in the last reissue of the Commando kit.

If so, I consider the hood and tail gate to be understood to be included as they are body parts. The grille is in the last issue of the kit

But you know what looks cool?? 

Years ago I cut the front off the '80s reissue of the Commando and replaced it with the front fenders and hood from the MPC CJ5. That looks cool. ?

I snagged this resin conversion body from Olson Bros 4 years ago, very nice casting.

I sure hope the re-issue the '68 kit with the full roof. Id like to build something similar to this pic.

Unless they go back and re-tool that body, probably won't happen. It was changed to the current body and has been issued several times since then. Best chances are either someone casting one like the Olson Bros did or someone does a resin body print.

If I remember correctly,  Olson bros. Is now defunct.  Hopefully someone will offer a resin body along with the full top.
