DonW Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Here's my take on the great Revell Miss Deal. I added chrome backs to the headlights then dropped clear varnish into them to give a pleasing yellow shine. I painted on the rear lights and threw away the push bar (foot) which to my mind just looked silly - and she does have a starter motor so it's not needed! I also added rear supports to the roll cage and moved the steering wheel and seat to a left hand drive setup. I cut down a dash panel with a couple of instruments from an old F1 kit and added that and also made a rear window 'cos it looks better that way! I threw away the two-part body support strut as it looked clumsy and I could not fathom how and where it was supposed to fit. I also had to lower the entire cage and do some sanding of the front internal frame to get the stance just right - I dislike 'nose-up' gassers and street freaks! Let me know what you make of the stance I arrived at (looking at you Bill!) I've wanted this model since I was 15 years old - finally got one fifty years later. Not perfect but I love it ? The kit is showing it's age but I thoroughly enjoyed building it - and it looks great on display with the Vette and the Charger. 2
cobraman Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Looks very good. I built that kit at least 4 times in different ways.
M W Elky Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 It came out really nice those headers can be a real pain in the neck. I can remember when that kit was reissued in the early nineties. I was in my early twenties I went completely nuts , and bought 10 of them
6bblbird Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Such a cool car! I have no idea how many of those kits that I've scavenged parts from. Strangely, I have never built the intended version.
DonW Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 Thanks all for your kind comments Yes the headers were a pain, but then there were a few fitment issues, mainly due to the age of the mouldings I guess. Cheers, -Don.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Great looking build. Fun to see. Like the yellow headers. Was a not aware of this kit.
DonW Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 Thanks Robert The headers were chrome originally. I really recommend this kit for a taste of old skool modelling!
TonyK Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Your model looks great! I like the choice of colors you used on everything. I've heard lots of bad things about this kit and it appears all your hard work turned in to something nice.
DonW Posted June 7, 2023 Author Posted June 7, 2023 Thanks again for all your kind comments, glad Miss Deal could stir some good memories and responses!
