dryvr12 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) I'm used to building 1/25 and some 1/24 scale models. What I'm asking is how long are 1/16, 1/8, and1/12 scale models? I would like to build a big Viper model (I don't care about the year). Are there any out there? Edited February 23, 2009 by dryvr12

For a typical car... 1/24 = 8" 1/16 = 12" 1/12 = 16" 1/8 = 24"
Harry P. Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I'm not aware of any large scale plastic kits of a Viper. For a typical car... 1/24 = 8" 1/16 = 12" 1/12 = 16" 1/8 = 24" Or another way to look at it: The scale of a model is it's relationship to the actual size of the car. A 1/24 scale model is 1/24th the size of the real car, a 1/16 scale model is 1/16th the size of the real car, etc. A 1/8 scale model is 1/8 the size of a real car. So if the real car is 16 feet long, a 1/8 scale model (1/8 of 16 feet) would be 2 feet long.
Zoom Zoom Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I have a 1/12 scale diecast Viper (black, first generation). It's a beast. It was made by a company called JRL Toys from China. Nice model, probably can find them on Feebay. IIRC I paid about $100 for it. Toy Liquidators had a few in green for awhile (years ago), I think they were more like $65 there. They are probably the only large scale Vipers you will find. Twice the length, width, height of a 1/24 Viper.
Guest Davkin Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 (edited) To convert from 1/24 to 1/16 multiply the dimensions of the 1/24 model by 1.5. To convert from 1/24 to 1/12 multiply by 2.0. To convert 1/24 to 1/8 mulitply by 3.0. David Edited February 23, 2009 by Davkin
