i saw on scalemates there was a new premium hobby exclusive corvette. on scalemates it says there are different decals, and i ordered the kit to see what different besides the box, and found the decals are the same as the normal amt kit with the blue car. i didnt think the blue has been discontinued, so i guess my stupid question is what is the point of making the one with the red box?

This was out several years ago.   Same as the one with the blue on the box but red instead.   What made it 'exclusive' was the red on the box.

Yeah, I have several also..been building the AMT '63s since the Barris Cruisin' USA release around 1980...

The intent for that release is for the collectors of corvettes and those who collect 1963. It's the same idea as the coke or other themed issues. Most will never be.built rather the sealed kits will be displayed.

Not much exclusiveness for this kit.
It's basically the same kit as the original kit from 1963 with a one piece chassis and all.
