MrMiles Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Surprisingly, this is the first time I have ever built a Chevelle kit as far back as I can remember. This kit looks tremendous, as far as I can tell this was previously a Lindbergh kit?? So far I have trimmed off all the pieces from the trees and cleaned up the body and prepped it for primer. I will spray it tomorrow. The plan is to make it a silvery blue color. 2
MrMiles Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 (edited) The body is primed. I used the black primer because I love how the silver blue looks when black primer is used. Unfortunately, the paint is on order, I don't have any here. I will work on the engine and chassis first. I have the paint for the interior on order as well Edited July 3, 2023 by MrMiles
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 IMO one of the best looking muscle cars of the era. Back in 66 a friend had a red one with a 4 speed. He wishes he still had it. Cool model.

However, the more I look at this the more I like it. I don't think anything will overtake my love the mustang but this might squeeze into my top 3 favorite classic cars
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 You are right about the Stang. There were sooo many great designs that it's hard to remember them all. 65/66 fastback is killer. Fun options like the mag style chrome wheels and the K Code Hi Po 289!
MrMiles Posted July 3, 2023 Author Posted July 3, 2023 (edited) This kit is quickly turning into my top model. I have built the engine and it's perfectly fit together. No shaving or sanding needed to line up the seats fit amazingly together. No gap filling. The body has 2 tiny spots of flash but was easy and only a couple of spots for mold lines There are a lot of little bits so it will be able to be really detailed. I hope this goes together the way it has been. My last 3 builds were rough going Edited July 3, 2023 by MrMiles
espo Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I agree with everyone on this being a great kit. Goes together with little or no drama and the proportions seem correct. Another bonus is that you can, with a little finesse, use some parts from the Revell '66 El Camino & Malibu wagon as well.
customline Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I have the Lindberg kit. I believe it is the same tool. It's a pretty good kit regardless of the brand. The decal sheet is a big plus with the factory labels, scripts and badging. Check out the pix below. 1
bisc63 Posted July 4, 2023 Posted July 4, 2023 I recall a review when the kit first came out that mentioned an issue with the wheel spacing (in-and-out), so watch out for that... Otherwise, already looking good in black primer!
MrMiles Posted July 4, 2023 Author Posted July 4, 2023 Everything is all primed up. Just waiting on paint bi can paint a few bits but mostly I'm as far as I can go.
wallyk 50 Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Definitely a Lindbergh kit, I have one in progress in addition to the AMT. Cautionary warning here, I got ahead of myself and installed the interior on the chassis only to find out the body will NOT fit over the firewall. There is also a small issue with the body fit because of interference with firewall dash windshield. I'm more accustomed to that on Revell kits. This is one of my favorite kits. 1
MrMiles Posted July 6, 2023 Author Posted July 6, 2023 I got email that the paint has shipped and will arrive on Friday. Perfect timing for working on it over the weekend.
