I honestly spray the Extreme Metal straight from the jar, no thinning, at about 15psi. Airbrush of choice is an Iwata Neo with a .35mm needle. Interesting...mine go thru my Paasche H med tip at 25psi thinned about 25%. I actually have all 3 of the Dinos. The Targa is built, latter type has been painted Tamiya TS8 and the early type is also painted but will be a racing version. That one will need some extra parts made. 1
Justin Porter Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 Moving right along with the Dino has got me to a few important points. Firstly, as with most Fujimi kits, there has to be at least one thing that they've absolutely botched molding. In this case, it's these massive sink marks on the exhaust pipes! They've been properly dolloped with Mr Dissolved Putty and left to cure for sanding and painting. The kit wheels are nicely molded but just a bit too bright. A quick hit of Tamiya Black Panel Liner really helps tone them down and highlight the sheer amount of engraving. Now came the big part, the chassis is inside the body with the glass in place! I've elected to delete the hinge on the engine cover because frankly, I'm proud of this engine bay. There's still a LOT of bright work to go but I did get the PE windshield wipers folded up and installed. 2
dino246gt Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 It's looking fantastic! Engine bay does look great too! 1
Pete75 Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Looks great. Love the PE detailing - most impressive! 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted August 31, 2023 Posted August 31, 2023 Extremely nice detailing. Love the color and the build. Nice work. 1
Justin Porter Posted September 3, 2023 Author Posted September 3, 2023 Well I am happy to say that I have buttoned up the Dino. It was such a delightful build and I am thrilled that so many have enjoyed seeing it come together. 2
1959scudetto Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Excellent WIP, Justin - I missed this and saw the hint when watching your model "under glass" yesterday. I have built the Dino coupe almost 30 years ago for the owner of the real car (posted here some scanned photos) and it was a pleasure (I have all 3 EM versions + a RS version and a gluebomb for additional parts) - you give me several suggestions here concerning colors and detailing! 1
