Kombi Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I just finished with this kit today. I thought I would never get it done as the painting was a bit more complicated than I was prepared for. It pointed out yet again why I need to learn how my airbrush works. The modifications to this are pretty simple. The rear fenders were widened to accept the wide wheel/tire combination and the rest is really just the selective use of kit-supplied parts. As the car is decidedly configured for track use, my plan was to have numbers applied, but the roundel supplied by Tamiya wasn't opaque enough so I have to scrap that for now. If I find some other decals that work better I'll definitely put them on. For now, it's done and I'm pretty happy with it. Flaws and all.
MonoPed Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Nice build! I just picked one of those up a couple weeks back, anything to look out for during assembly? got any shots of the underside?
Kombi Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) I just picked one of those up a couple weeks back, anything to look out for during assembly? got any shots of the underside? Nothing really remarkable, although I'm puzzled as to why the hood doesn't fit as well as it did when I was test fitting things together. That disappointed me a bit. Other than that it's a very well produced kit, the detailed painting is a bit of a chore though. Attached is a pic from the underside. Edited March 9, 2009 by MkIII
Foxer Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 the engine compartment really pops! All that detailing sure looks worth it.. !
fordh8r Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) That sure is a clean build. The engine compartment is very tidy and those side draft carbs really look cool in there. Edited March 9, 2009 by fordh8r
Kombi Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 I appreciate the comments guys. The little Cosworth motor was really neat so I did my level best to do some justice to it.
