NOBLNG Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Is this even possible with a lacquer or enamel paint job? I understand that the gold color is very thin and won’t stand up to much burnishing. But can the gold stand up to ANY contact with lacquer thinner?
Engine 51 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Put some of the gold foil on a scrap piece of plastic, spray it with the paint you intend to use and see how it does. This should also allow you to see how much burnishing it can stand once they paint has dried.

If I had some that would make sense, but I don’t have any and I don’t want to go and buy some if it won’t stand up to a light rubbing with lacquer thinner.
mr moto Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 It works just fine. Check out my Chrysler New Yorker build in the "completed Johan kits" thread (in Under Glass). That's how the front fender script is done.
