MrMiles Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 i am painting a custom toy that was silver and blue and i wanted it white. i tried tamiya white primer, but you could still see the blue under it and the silver made the white look gray. i had bought the tamiya base while a while back and figured, let me give that a try. wow. its completely white. you cant see any of the old color at all. it was pretty expensive, but it did exactly what i needed it to do 2
espo Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 If you have any Tamiya Gray Primer a light coat as a base and then a coat of White Primer. The Tamiya White Primer doesn't seem to block bright colors without several coats. Have used their Gray first followed by the White with minimum coats of paint.
bobss396 Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Have you tried a silver base coat? I have had it block reds and yellows that tend to bleed through. Of course over a suitable primer. Good old Black Gold Orion Silver was great for this.
MrMiles Posted November 17, 2023 Author Posted November 17, 2023 this is what i was working on. not really model related, but i used the same techniques i use on modeling. its not done yet, but im pretty happy with it so far. it was originally an r2d2, with silver and blue head and the panels were blue yellow is my favorite color
