I have been wandering around the net looking for brass rod,plastic rod and tubing and other shapes of both and it seems to have dried up? 

Anyone have a good source?

Have you been using “Evergreen Scale Models”, “Plastruct”, or “K&S precision metals”  for search terms? Those should all yield results.

Plastruct has some interesting shapes that nobody... including most hobby shops... has. Their 1/8" square stock with a center hole is a good one. They have some 1/2 round that is good for tow truck bumpers. They used to have clear yellow and red rod.
