Bison and the General except for the badges?

Correct no difference just name plates and Grilles. Chevy dropped the Bison and Titan in 1980 but the General and Astro went on for another 7 years. Yes with the cobbled up mess I started with it’s finally taking shape.  Thanks for the complement I appreciate it Jürgen.

Didn’t know this wrecker existed - going to be a great combo with your modified General.

Thanks I appreciate it. The wrecker body is a AMT that came with a Mack Superliner. The boom mass I robbed from a First Gear truck.

Yesterday I got most of the painting done and before calling it a night I put the wheels on and did a quick mock up. I’m hoping the decals will arrive before Thanksgiving.

Thanks Jeff I look back at my pile of parts at the beginning of the thread and at first glance it looks like a pile of junk. I’m glad it’s going together smoothly like I said I did a lot of studying on this before I even made the thread to make sure it would work.

Such a difference having the cab and wrecker body the same colour!  Will you be re-working the boom at all or leaving as is?

Yes it’s starting to look better all one color. I just added the parts that were  missing and I might do a little modifications on it if needed.

The decals came in and I wasted no time getting them on this evening. They went on easy with no problems.Decals are crisp and legible.

Your design, printed by them or their decals……? Sure makes the truck look different. Real clean and sharp.

Those decals do the truck justice, looks good

Thanks Gary your so right they do. Although these were not same stripe package scheme as the real truck was I always thought the truck in real life would look good with the famous GM tri paint scheme in red. It had red stripes but they were more a scrolling type kinda hard to explain real didn’t make the truck look good.

What isn't there to like about this project, anytime a razor saw is involved its gonna be good.

Lee you've done a great job on this eye catching wrecker !

Thank you very much. Your support as well as the other have made this a really enjoyable build. I appreciate your complement and stopping by.

Decided to put this back on the bench and get it finished. Done some work to get it caught up. Shorten the fuel tank, installed all the glass, finished the interior, added the left mudflap, and painted the wrecker mass. The mass came out a little darker than the stripe but that’s ok kinda looks like Holmes red to me.

Interior looks great, just the right colour.

The wrecker looks excellent, I prefer the old Holmes twin boom jobs even though the modern kit is much more capable.

  • Thanks 1
