I am working on a original 63 convertible that was built as a gasser so I am wanting to put it back closer to original.  Did it come with the usual for that era SS hub caps or the more plane versions, did it also come with a up top or just the boot and I noticed it has six cylinder emblems but in the chassis it has a Y pipe for a V8. The engine that is in it looks original as it has a hole through the block and the exhaust pipes from the engine match up to the Y pipe on the chassis.

The kit came with a V8 but the 1:1 '63 Novas were only available with a four or six.  The '62 and '63 convertible kits had the boot only, no raised top.

1962 and ‘63 Chevy IIs came only with 4- and 6-cylinder engines.

1964 introduced the 283 V8 and 1965 added the 327.

Some drag racers were swapping V8s into Chevy IIs for the drag strip from early on as Factory Experimentals (FX class).

The AMT ‘63 Chevy II hardtop and convertible kits were produced with only a SB (327?) V8 engine with stock 4-bbl intake or optional tri-carb set-up.

Why AMT put V8s in their ‘63 Chevy IIs when GM didn’t is a mystery.
