george 53 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 WOW Erik, I had no idea that guys were usin REAL models now to built slot cars! That is too cool! Maybe you could bring it to tonites meeting and show that bad boy off! I think it's pretty cool!
Trans Am Erik Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 A new set of rear tires because the biggest Pro Tracks were still too small! These are a custom made set made to replicate the top fuel size Centerlines found on the real car.
Jairus Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 That is very nice! I like the simplicity of construction as I always make things more complicated with my projects... What are you going to do for a driver figure?
Trans Am Erik Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 What are you going to do for a driver figure? Uuuuuum.....good question! It appears that the slot car's motor will take up the driver's seat. 'Ol Raymond Beadle may be reduced to just his helmet for this ride!
Jairus Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I think you have plenty of room for a upper torso at least! This is what I did with a sprint car...
Trans Am Erik Posted March 26, 2009 Author Posted March 26, 2009 Nice sprint car, where did you get those wide Pro Tracks? I was told the largest tires they made were 1 3/16X500.
Jairus Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I built that for customer who sent me a Womp chassis with a model kit attached to it. I used brass rod to replace the plastic rod. The Pro-track wheels were already attached. I would check the web site. J
Trans Am Erik Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 New smaller front wheels and the body is mounted! It hinges up like it should!
3men2s Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 ERICK, THIS THING IS SICK!!! MAN I HAVE TO DO ONE JUST LIKE THIS ONE....AT LEAST TO HAVE SINCE THERE ARE NO TRACKS IN WEST PALM BEACH. TAKE MOR PHOTOS, LOTS OF ANGLES SO I CAN LEARN AND USE AS REFERENCE. CAN YOU ALSO GIVE THE SIZES OF THE TIRES AND PARTS AND WHERE DID YOU GET THEM. IF YOU CAN SHOW HOW YOU WELD...BETTER FOR US AMATEURS. LONG LIVE THE BLUE MAX !!!!! STILL WAITING ON PICS OF YOUR EXP F/C PROJECT. I AM PLANNING ON DOING THE ARROW SOON.
Trans Am Erik Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 I put in a Pro-Slot Super 16D motor with an 11 tooth pinion, and a 56 tooth ring gear.
george 53 Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 A Pro Slot Super 16? Izzat like a AA/FC Keith Black Hemi motor,Eric? Man I shoulda been there last nite ta watch it run!! My Grandbaby's Christmas pagent was last nite though, and I just COULDN'T miss that!
Trans Am Erik Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 First test runs were sucessful. The car ran 1.27 at 51mph.
george 53 Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 I can vouch for that! I was there Thursday nite when he did it! Eric, Who WAS that little kid with the monster reaction time? I also had the pleasure of meeting Eric's dad Ed, A REAL nice guy. You can see where Eric gets his enthusiasm from!
Trans Am Erik Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 Well, the Blue Max is done (I'll post pics later). I changed engines. It's now running a Group 20 .550 Big Block with 9/60 gears. It's best et is .988 and just today it hit it's best top speed at 66mph!
Rick Bennett Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 This is amazing! I love the work and can not wait to see it finished.
