Here's a little something that I have been working off and on for a while now. Notice that the 340 sports a stock Carter Thermoquad and the chassis was done with a real Mopar wrinkle paint to make it look like factory undercoating.

This is ONLY the second time I've seen a Thermo-Quad done correctly! I have the only other ones I have EVER seen! I saw that bad boy as soon as the pics came up! VERY small BUT accurate for that Duster,as it was totally interchangeable with the junkie Carters that car came with! My buddy in Hi school ran one on his 70 340 Duster. If you pay that kinda attention to detail, this is gonna be one killer model! (It's the little things that count!)

Thanks for the comments guys.

George, I should be able to get the details right in the Tq. I've built too many of hte real things over the years. When I ran dirt track they have a rule that said no dual lines or double pumpers. So the chebby guys took 750's and put 600 bowls on them and used the longer transfer tube from a 650 spreadbore Holley. I just worked over an 850 Tq big block carb and put it on them ...lol. Rules allowed a stock carb too, so I beat them more than one way.

I try to pay attention to details. Especially paint colors depending on what I am building. Since I started back, I am tryingto do movie or tv cars from shows that I liked. I've got a '68 Charger and Mustang in the works for Bullitt, a 32 Tow truck and Olds Cutlass to go with my Willy's from the movie Hot Rod, a '49 Merc from the movie Cobra, and a Daytona from tv cop show Hunter, a Jeep and General Lee, and a '55 from Two Lane Black Top. I did a bunch of paint work on some of them last night and hope to get some of them finished for a Hobby Town contest next month. I'll post some pics when I get to a good stage in some of those builds and post them up for you to see.

looking very nice so far! i did the Thermoquad on my '71 Roadrunner correctly, but it's hidden under the air cleaner. i'm not even sure it's the correct carb for the Roadrunner, but it's what came with the kit.

keep us posted!

Dave

It is correct for your car. They came out in 70 and were fuel metered at first and then changed over to an air metered carb. The first carbs were not very good at all till the change over in metering systems. The small blocks are 800 cfm and big blocks ate 850 cfm and there was two competition versions listed at 850 and 1000 cfm. I'm lucky to own one of those.

Only thing about the Tq in your kit is that it is squashed down too small to fit under the hood. It would have been better if it was like the one on the Duster. Much more accurate and detailed looking.

I'll throw in some pics for reference. Someone might need them.

If run across any more of those things from the AMT Duster kits, I sure would like to have a handful of them. The ones from the '71 Road Runner/Satellite kits are not very good. I'd like to replace them and use some on some other kits too. :)
