TopherMcGinnis Posted February 17, 2024 Posted February 17, 2024 I'm sure the subject needs no introduction. I've been in LOVE with this girl for as long as I can remember. This is my 1st attempt at a resin body. I hacked a Revell '49 chassis to fit(somewhat crudely for now). I'm not going to open the hood or doors(this stuff is nasty in its dusty form) as it'll sit on my shelf anyways. What are some pit falls I can avoid with your good advice? 1
Moparman18064 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Brittle, take care when fitting tight parts. File chassis a little for easier fitting. Mask up when sanding or grinding. Use CA for attaching anything to it. Wild thickness variations, watch this for window fitment, etc. 1
Zippi Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Is that a JF resin body? Check fitness of all kit parts to the body as it is very thick. After cleaning, wipe the body down with lacquer thinner before painting. DO NOT put the body in a Dehydrator to dry your paint. 2
bobss396 Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 I have one of his resins in the works... I got frustrated and put it down years ago, this was for the AMT donor car. I wish someone would make a '51 Merc trans kit or a decent printed body. 1

No worries about a dehydrator here, I do my paint the old fashioned way, I wait, and wait, and wait....??????
