Well I wanted a crew cab dually for a while and seeing as I’m going to have to extend the frame why not extend it a little more! Started with an amt snap 96 Tahoe and an amt snap 96 phantom dually and started hacking away all the parts that are not an extended cab Dooley. Started with the removal of the running boards from the Tahoe, then removal of the rear of the Tahoe behind the doors.
little mock up to see how the cuts are lining up. More measuring for the extended cab section and off to the garage for some messy cutting. This will be a simple curbside.
I’ll be doing all kinds of flavours of the gmt400 body soon, so I’ll have reg cab long box, reg cab short box, extended cab long box, extended cab short box, extended cab step side box, reg cab dually, extended cab dually. Tahoe and suburban. My fantasy fleet of gmt400 body styles. If I can afford it I will be making them all gmc variants some with the w/t grille and some with the sierra grille( wish I had a 3d printer).

more later as time allows, I’m doing this as a mind saver as I’m slowly packing for another move(sigh) this one is coast to coast west to east back to the island.

I attempted the same thing years ago but gave up on the sanding and gave it away to a builder on this forum then get a review of my chassis wheel base cut was off.

I tried the same thing a couple of years ago, with zero success. The arch in the roof was totally different on the two cabs I used, so lining things up was impossible.

I've since just 3d printed a crewcab that lines up pretty closely with the dually boxes I have. I think with a little tweaking, I can reprint and get it perfect.

Now I have to try harder! You could just give me the misprint lol.
