“ BUILDING THE COVERS “ Vol # 80 SEATON’S SHAKER 1966 CHEVELLE FUNNY AWB FUNNY CAR

I built this from a resin body I have no idea who the maker was , but it’s a really nice body a relatively thin casting which didn’t require much prep.l’m about 95% sure the master was created from the Lindburg kit . I used the AMT 1967 chevelle pro street kit for the main parts donor. The Cragar ss wheels along with the slicks and front tires were fished out of the parts box . I fashioned the injector stacks from aluminum tubing mated to a manifold I made by modifying the 8 carb manifold from the AMT double dragster kit along with a piece from the parts pack corvair engine for the finned base . The body was sprayed with plane old testors enamel. As for the decals there are no sets for this car available . So I used the ones I had left over from my 65 car build along with some hand lettering with a fine tipped Sharpie. If you’re going to build a replica of this car this issue of Super Stock is a must have as there is a good reference article along with the cover shot of this car. It looks really sweet parked next to my 65 car. Until next time thanks for looking. Mike

Nice job... I am planning on doing this build sometime soon I've got the MCW resin kit of this car.

Thanks Scott I can’t wait to see your build now is a good time to build Chevelle’s as you can get them at hobby lobby for 40% off . The Corvairs are next on my Seaton Shaker list.

Sweet job Mike! Particularly like the photos of the two together. Bet these were scary fast out-of-control race cars to pilot. No thanks!

Thanks John, the photos of these SEATON cars launching always looks rather violent and never straight. It seems that the whole left side is off the ground. This is the only way to see these cars photographed together as they most likely stripped the drivetrain from the 65 car to build the 66.
