Iraceitall Posted April 20, 2024 Posted April 20, 2024 My first completed model in almost 30 years! Monogram kit built box stock save for swapping to the 10-hole wheels. Decals were yellowed and not great, so I may redo them, but for now I'm just thrilled to finish a build! 5
bobss396 Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 I like it, those combo kits were excellent to build. 1
MarkJ Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Joe, after 30 years you haven't lost your touch. Super nice build to get back in the game with, so to speak. I've heard putting yellowed decals in a sunny windowsill for a couple of days will bring them back to life, but I have never tried it myself. 2
Iraceitall Posted April 21, 2024 Author Posted April 21, 2024 Thanks! I've got a couple UV lights I used when I would whiten old Tonka parts, I'm going to give that a shot. Oddly enough, of all the models I used to build, this is my first completed NASCAR kit. I mainly built muscle cars and lots of slammed AMT Chevy C1500s way back when.
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 Very nice! I love the old NASCAR days, when they were real cars. It was a big part of the sport, seeing the different manufacturers competing against one another. 1
Street Rod Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 Great looking model! Your skills didn’t get rusty in the last 30 years! 1
Rattlecan Dan Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 It's a really nice-looking build. Hope you get your yellowing decal problem resolved, because it's a great looking car. Nice job. 1
Iraceitall Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 Thank you, I really appreciate it. The UV light helped out some, it's not perfect but it's better. A good start to things anyway.
Jim N Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Great work. I remember fondly how understated the paint schemes were back in the day. 2
bobss396 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 The shocks, front and rear, were always a struggle for me to get them in and to stay in. Nice work. I came up with another way for the rears and only recently started pinning the top of the fronts to the cage tubing. 1

gami8630 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 It's a great build that I don't think I've seen in 30 years. 1
