prostreeter69 Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 Hey guys i will be un Chicago the end of this week a wondered if there was any good hobby shops around that I could check out? Jon
chitownbri Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 Not many shops left around here anymore, I don't think there's any left inside city limits. But there's Des Plaines hobbies in Des Plaines, Walts Hobbies in Crestwood, Berwyn Toys and Trains in Berwyn. Walts is my go to shop, they are well stocked on kits and paints, and they have a big selection of trains and rc stuff too.

The two great ones (from the time I was transferred there) were Venture Hobbies in Wheeling and Al's Hobbies in Elmhurst (both long gone).
Mr. Metallic Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 Not sure how far you are willing to go, but Brians Pro Shop and Hobby in Dekalb is great
prostreeter69 Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 Thanks guys! My training is in Elk Grove so that will be base for us. We (wife and me) plan to visit the city and do some fun stuff so a little traveling not bad.
Don Sikora II Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Des Plaines Hobby probably not too much of a hike from Elk Grove. Ron's in Mundelein was already mentioned, and it's well worth stopping there if you're in that area. There is a well-stocked Hobbytown USA on Waukegan Road in Northbrook too.
prostreeter69 Posted May 13, 2024 Author Posted May 13, 2024 Hey Guys: Thanks for the info again, I was able to make it to Walt's and Des Planes and picked up a few things. The wife and I had a great time visiting your city and ate way too much food. Jon
