B-dub Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 well this kit was missing the chrome tree and I had another 64 of a different kind and I'm mixing parts trying to make a complete model... using this body I have enough other parts to come up with a junk car like I dream of building (I have little experiance in building models) anyways.. this is my first attempt..
MrObsessive Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Bobby, if you can pick up the November '08 issue of Model Cars, there's a tutorial written by yours truly on the type of hinges you'll need for that '64. It'll be helpful for first timers like yourself. The cut out doors look good so far---------I would tighten up the shut lines a bit just a bit though for evenness.
RodneyBad Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Well you got the door off and the window frame is still in tack. that's a good start. How did you go about cutting the door off? I spend the time with the back side of the X-acto blade. slowly and carefully. it works for me. Good time to practice making hinges too.
Jeff Johnston Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Looking good ! My only suggestion is to only do one door at a time. Get one side completely done before moving to the other side. Or else the body gets flimsy and mess up the allignment when your done. Keeping the one side "on" will keep the body straight. Once you jamb the open side, it'll be rigid enough to do the other side.
