Monty Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 I’m considering doing a two-tone airbrushed paint job using Model Master enamel for the lighter shade and MCW enamel for the darker shade. I’ve never used MCW enamels before and I figured it’s better to ask this before I order any paint. Since we’re usually advised to shoot the lighter shade first, I’ll do that. Once that’s dry, do you think the MCW stuff will cover without causing issues?
Monty Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 If it helps clarify why I’m asking, I’d heard or read that MCW enamel is much more like old school single stage automotive enamel while Model Master enamels are strictly hobby paints.
mr moto Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Maybe you should try contacting MCW for their opinion. They've probably done compatibility tests.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 (edited) Why not just cut your losses and get MCW for both colors. No surprises. Or, mask before you spray the first color, and then mask the first color before you spray the second so that you don't have to spray one over the other. Problem solved. You're welcome!
