Facing major shoulder surgery in a few months. Any suggestions on tools/ techniques to use so I can continue building? I am working to get anything I can sprayed, foiled, decaled, etc. on a couple of kits. How do I hold a body steady to foil it, apply decals, etc.?

you could try a small vice with some soft padded jaws. you should find them near wood lathes at your local tool emporium. make sure the pads aren't the cheap rivetted ones cos they are trash. these jaws are for holding round items.

I like Bobs approach.? I can’t imagine being able to foil much with one hand considering how it likes to curl. But if you are determined enough, anything is possible. Maybe try one of these PC board holders clamped or fastened to the bench somehow? I know there are guys on here that use them. Good luck with the surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks everyone. I think one of those PC board holders might help. That and pre- painting kits that don't need foil (slingster, 22 Jr, Jawbreaker, NASCAR, etc.)

The friend I model with has had strokes and has almost no use of his right hand… he has a vice and several other body holders he uses… turns out pretty good… and he had to learn to use his left hand because he’s right handed!!! Just one of his builds not perfect but great considering!
