I'm going to take my '64 Rambler for a little road trip in August. My goal is a little south from München, so I'll be driving through Germany. The exact route is not decided yet, but I will be visiting some interesting places on my way back home so I'm taking recommendations from all over the country.

I know we have some members from Germany on this forum so I'd like to know what are the best Hobby Shops to visit on the way? I'm looking for mostly 1/24 or 1/25 model kits of older cars (American or European). So, let me know what are the best hobby shops to visit in Germany and I'll figure the route so that I can visit at least in some of them.:P

Niko,

the best  shop for scale model cars in Germany is U.S. Car Models Erich Schenkenberger , Taschnerstr. 3, 60388 Frankfurt am Main. He got the best assortment of 1/25 and 1/24 car model. He also have a bunch of older kits in store. Give him a call while driving to the south of Germany and stop by.

Nearby Stuttgart in Denkendorf is Nimpex. They also got some nice kits, but mostly newer ones. In Munich try Traudl's Modellbau.

Most of the regular modelling shops in Germany carry the usual Revell and Italeri stuff. Only a few stock amt kits.

If you need more information you are welcome

I have only been to Germany once, about 10 years ago. Didn't look specifically for hobby shops but ended up stopping at a few by chance. The best I visited was Train and Play in Hanover. A very big, well stocked shop, but the plastic kits were mostly current Revell and Italeri. They had a big room of second-hand stuff too. As I remember, I bought a couple Wiking 1/87 cars there.

Thanks for the suggestions! These will help when planning the route that I will be driving, because when you're in foreign country, you always have to find a local Hobby Shop to stop by.:P

Michael, I will be visiting a friend who lives a bit south from München. :)

Thanks! :)

I hope everything goes well (basically, I hope the car will work the whole trip, if it does I should have no problem).:) I've driven almost 100 000 kilometers with it during the last three and half years and haven't had any major issues. But every time you're far from home, anything can happen.
