You could almost tell when a car had spent a lot of time near the beach areas as the onshore breezes would bring in the fog and anything sitting outside would deteriorate much faster than a car that was even a couple of miles inland. The only place I have ever seen anything eat cars worse was on a vacation to Maui. The cars on the western side of the island would deteriorate faster than the cars on the eastern side. Wow, yeah. No escape out there ?
rv1963 Posted September 2, 2024 Author Posted September 2, 2024 (edited) A little update, I just had to see what it would look like on it's wheels, I think I like it. Put in a few shots of the interior still working on that, still more to do. As always all comments welcome. I already have my next build in my mind AMT Mercury Capri 2, it will not be a beater more like a high level street pro touring car, at least that is the plan. Edited September 8, 2024 by rv1963 8
customline Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) YES! THE PLASTIC AND DUCT TAPE ON THE QUARTER WINDOW HOLE! FREAKING BRILLIANT! ? I hope you don't mind if I use that ? Edited September 3, 2024 by customline 1
Mike Slapattack Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Looking sweet! How did you do the distressed carpet? I also love the taped up window, classic ratmobile!
rv1963 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) Thanks Jim go for it, Thanks Michael, the carpet was done with the stuff they call fuzzy fur or flocking I used diluted white glue to hold it down, mine was black so after it dried I painted it the interior color and weathered it with a grimy wash., if you do this on a nice model be neat about not like I did here, I made a mess of it on purpose. The taped window was made with one of those very cheap sandwich bags and the duck tape was made using Tamiya masking tape colored with a silver Sharpie. Edited September 3, 2024 by rv1963

customline Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 You can almost smell the "smoke" and gasoline. I miss it ?
rv1963 Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 Thanks David, I agree Jim I used to have a 1967, 68 Firebird all my friends had Nova's, Mustangs and Camaros from the 1960's and early 70's.
DJMar Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 This is really nice, the details are spot on! I have something on the bench at the moment with a strikingly similar wheel & tire combo...
David G. Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 It definitely has that Seventies Rake! I also like the plastic on the window, nice touch. David G.
stavanzer Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 That looks like some of the cars I used to see on the roads in Bakersfield back in the 1990's. Very Good Job.
customline Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 That looks like some of the cars I used to drive on the roads in Cranston back in the '80s
