I have to dig out some old pictures. I was small but 1960 was a snowy year, 1964 too. We had snow forts all over. My dad had a bad back, so the driveway had to be 100% clean by the time he got home.

1969 was another wild winter. In more recent years the President's Day storm of 1996 dumped 30" on us. That season we had over 100" of snow.

Holy smokes that’s a lot of snow

Right!

I drove that little guy up to the store and bought 8 gals of milk and 6 loafs of bread for the neighbors as my Bug was the only car that could make it there....LOL

We had 2 back to back blizzards in 1978. The 1st one, I left work early and stopped to check on my parents that were close by.

I'm driving up the block and there are 2 guys with something on a sled... my brothers. They had 3 cases of Miller Beer and a 1/2 gallon of Old Grand Dad tied to it. The next few days they holed themselves up in the basement racing slot cars.

My 2 mile ride to my house...took me 3 hours with stuck cars. No work for 3 days, I was glad the power stayed on.

Those old bias ply tires didn’t work too well in snow and extreme cold weather.🥶 I remember driving away and the tires going thump, thump, thump from the flat spot.

My Great Uncle said that Corvairs absoultely sucked when it came to winter driving, in reference to the photo with the '60. His wife my great aunt had a Corvair before they were married I think and he despised the thing. It wouldn't start at all in the cold.

Like I said, I know I have some old snow photos, IIRC from a 1960 blizzard.

We lived close to a train yard where conductors parked. There was one car stuck out on the road, snow drifted in. My dad went out to make sure nobody was inside. Likely the driver hoofed it back to the train yard.
