Jim B Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 Thanks for the positive comments, guys. I didn't see your responses until today. @Pete68 Lee, Converting the gasoline tanker to a chemical tanker shouldn't be "too" hard. Still need to finish the track for the Big Boy. Been putting that off for too long. @DRIPTROIT 71 Brain, yes, the Mack builds up quite nicely. The tank trailer was another matter altogether! I seem to have trouble with tank trailers for some reason. 1
The Brush Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Hi, Jim, I missed this first time round, Looks very neatly done, The loco is impressive also. I had one converted it to a RS700 , I would like to get another when i see one for sale. 1 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Looks great! Very nice result. Those SNAP Kits really have a lot of potential. You've found it! 1 1
Jim B Posted December 19, 2024 Author Posted December 19, 2024 (edited) Thanks, Jürgen. You're right, the snap kits do have a lot of potential. Unfortunate the wheels & tires are so bad. Edited December 19, 2024 by Jim B 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Yes, that's true. But the way these kits are built here in this forum it doesn't really matter. I haven't seen one single 1/32 kit here where the wheels harmed the look of it. Yours included! 3
Jim B Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 That is true, and a little Tamiya Rubber Black goes a long way in improving the look. I think these snap kits were designed for young modelers to get them interested in the hobby. 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 You're probably right! I started out with an AMT kit but after that I bought the 1/32 Freightliners (coe and conventional) and a tanker and reefer. After those I went Back to the 1/25 kits again! If I had had todays skills, maybe I would have stayed with the snap kits! 1

I think so too they were my first real model truck back in 1978 I was 10 years old I would build them and my brother Bill would put the decals on for me. They were much different than the Aircraft I built putting the decals on. At one time I had every one of them.
Jürgen M. Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Nice bulldog Mack with a can on back! Love that combo! 😉 1 1
Jim B Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 Thanks, Jürgen. Yes, it's a classic combination. 1
