Hi. I just picked up the AMT 1967 Shelby Mustang GT350 from Hobby Lobby last week. It will sit unopened until I complete a few other started projects. So my question is for those who have built this kit can you please advise on any pro's and cons associated with the build? Thank you.

Kind regards,

It’s similar to the other Revell Monogram kits where the front and rear sections are separate pieces.  You can either glue them to the body or paint as one unit or paint them separate and glue together and hope everything lines up.

I have one of these in my stash currently.

As already pointed out, the front and rear clips are separate. So is the trunk. Personally, I would recommend gluing the clips to the body, because the parts don't fit well. You can offset this with a little patience in your gluing setup. If you line up one side, glue it, and let it dry completely, you can then pull the other side into to place and glue that. There's a bit of fiddling involved, but doing it this way makes the parts fit better, but not perfectly. I would still expect you'll have to sand and/or putty.

I've seen some folks hinge the trunk. Otherwise, most of us probably just glue it in place.

The rest of the build is pretty straightforward. I like the interior for the good side panel detail.

The front suspension sits too high for even a stock Shelby, so moving the wheel mounting on the kingpin can help with this.
