mountaindewd Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Here are a couple of builds previously done. First is my RG Peterbilt 359 Super Cruiser. I stretched the frame, plumbed the engine and scratchbuilt the bumper and fuel tanks in addition to modifying the grille and headache rack/cabguard. The sleeper was all scratchbuilt including the whole interior. I also stripped all of the chrome(except the wheels) and replaced it with Alclad chrome as well as applied my first ever custom two tone paint job. Les
mountaindewd Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Second is a Mack C600. Started with the AMT DM 600 and added the conversion from AITM. This was my first resin build, so I didn't do much as far as detail, at least to the frame. I included steer wheels from AITM and tires from Mo'luminum. I also scratchbuilt the floor and dash as well as the mirror frames. You can see it's a no frills build but it turned out nice and clean. Les
mackinac359 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 As Ben said! "truly some outstanding work" Great job on the C615's mirrors and the 359's paint. Heck, the 359 even has a washer ! Tim Thats is truly some outstanding work, Les!!!!!!!!!!!
mountaindewd Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) Heck, the 359 even has a washer ! Yes sir. It is actually a washer/dryer combo. I have a scratched and then cast rooftop AC for it also if I ever break down and paint it. Les Edited May 5, 2009 by mountaindewd
Kostas Parchas Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Hey Les, Very good looking trucks you have made! Your Peterbilts are copies of real trucks or products of your imagination? Anyway very nice work! Kostas.
mountaindewd Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 Your Peterbilts are copies of real trucks or products of your imagination? Kostas, Thanks for the comments. The designs are original. Les
plasticbutcher Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 We're not worthy!!!!! when I look at your builds I want to throw rocks at mine, B E A utiful work Thank you for posting these pics
mountaindewd Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) throw rocks at mine, No! No!, send them to me before you go and do that. That would make me happy. Les Thanks for the comments! Edited May 6, 2009 by mountaindewd
mountaindewd Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) New one underway. This is a Pete 377. I'll say fleet because it is going to be a match to the 378 paint scheme though no company names on the truck. I may add them later, but don't have 'em right now. It has another scratchbuilt headache rack as well as lift axle. The front tires will be changed out with the same floats as on the lift axle. Engine is wired and plumbed a little more than the 378 was though not doing the chassis. Here are some pics. The clips are holding the lift axle in place for the pics. Maybe I should leave them for hauling logs in slow times. Les Edited May 22, 2009 by mountaindewd
SpreadAxle Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Outstanding work, Les. You have a 1:1 Pete sitting outside for reference don't you. I like the engine wiring.
Kostas Parchas Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Great work so far!! Company names? What about Mountaindewd CO.... Keep us posted. Kostas.
TomA Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 You have some BEAUTIFUL trucks there Les! I was floored b the detail and workmanship! Keep them coming. Cheers, Tom.
mountaindewd Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 Kostas, Thanks! I have a name, just gotta get the decals made. Les
Chariots of Fire Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Those are totally awesome builds, Les. Glad you posted!
Ayatollah Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 (edited) It's an honor to see what you make. It also makes me want to send sourkraut a few hundred sheckles MOUNTAINDEWD, Holy %! You make some smokin' headache racks! I'll bet you would do a great book I like the Alclad as a replacement for chrome. I never see vehicles on the road with mirror like chrome. I like to dust silver paint lightly onto wheels to kill the mirror look. Your scratchbuilding is impressive to say the least! Edited May 26, 2009 by Ayatollah
mountaindewd Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 Thank you to everybody for all of the kind comments. Ayatollah, a book? I rarely read them, I seriously doubt I'll be writing one. I appreciate the comments though. Les
airhorn Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Holy cow...shazam...dang....pow...man, those are some eye popper builds. Win
mountaindewd Posted July 26, 2009 Author Posted July 26, 2009 Here is some progress shots of my latest build. It is the Peterbilt 377 in the same colors as my previous 378. I have the cab painted as of today. Yet to clear. I'm wishing now that I had gotten decals before this point to represent a company, oh well. As well, I also painted the frame one day this past week. I am going to paint the headache rack on this one and alclad the doors and deck rather than alclad the whole thing like the 378. The engine, Detroit Series 60, is completed with the exception of the valve cover, intake and pulleys/belts. I scratchbuilt the lift axle. It's just a combination of multiple reference pics but it turned out decent. I have O-rings that fit over the rear bag of this to simulate colloapsed bags. Les
