dazzed Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 The rest will come up Mickey Mouse with a light sand before adding a clear coat but the bonnet dent and scratches have appeared after painting. Need help to fix this before moving to clear coat
NOBLNG Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 The dent and scratches should have been fixed before painting. What kind of paint is it? Did you use a primer? Primer usually reveals that sort of stuff along with any faint mold lines that need to be addressed. You could possibly use filler putty to do a spot repair and repaint just the hood. I haven’t done a spot repair after paint myself, so I might just strip the entire thing. Someone else may have more experience with repairs.
bill-e-boy Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 As above - spot repair and reprime and paint area with good coverage and cover the whole model with last coat to keep colour the same. As long as you feather sand in your repairs and follow the same paint sequences as you used on the main part of the body - this being said with paint being applied via air brush in mind and not rattle cans
rattle can man Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 Remember, perfect paint is for show cars. If that is your goal, I agree with re-spraying the whole car. But if it is a daily driver, a paint mismatch is not uncommon. Just repair the hood. Cars do occasionally get to the dealership with a very slight mismatch between panels, or perhaps it had to be repainted due for some reason( accident, peeeling clear coat/ paint, vandalism, damage during shipping, etc.

Will spend more time inspecting the next car I do. Started the repairs last night and will do more over the weekend. Thanks for the input.
