M W Elky Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 One Mickey Thompson and one Malcolm Durham both are using Johan chassis the Camaro has a highly modified AMT body. The Pinto is sporting a tamyia candy apple red paint job while the Camaro is wearing some old Testors pearl blue enamel both are rattle can. Both will be topped off with slixx decals. 5

dragcarz Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 They look great I’d like some more info on that Camaro body.

The Camaro body is an early 1990’s ertl/amt reissue that I cut apart to lengthen the front end to fit the Johan chassis. I started this project 34 years ago. I put the whole project in a box and kinda forgot about it until about a month ago. Thankfully my modeling skills have been honed over the years since . So check out the pictures for the finer details 3
dragcarz Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 Thank you Michael, very cool project. I have some resin Camaro bodies but I really prefer plastic. The Camaro looks great. I can’t wait to see it complete. 1
M W Elky Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 I made some good progress over the last few days the pinto chassis is well on its way . The Camaro got some decals applied today 3
M W Elky Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Decals on half of the pinto tonight . If you’re applying this set the white Mickey Thompson and the small yellow sponsor decals underneath it are very fragile, and have a tendency to break apart. I used very hot water with a couple drops of dawn dish soap. You don’t have to soak them for to long or you will run a high risk of them coming apart in the water. I’ll let this side dry for a few days before applying the decals on the other side 1
M W Elky Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 The pinto decals are complete and it’s nearly done. 3
Sketch1982 Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Both are awesome! My dad had a lot of the old Johan flopper kits when I was a kid. Following these builds
Zippi Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Nice work there Michael. The decals came out looking really sharp.
dragcarz Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Really looking good Michael! I love seeing these builds come to life.
