Those Mercury covers are the cat's pajamas, Bil.

It was a happy moment let me tell you. Makes the FE a prime choice

How did you know I'm short like Danny DeVito lol( jk) not bad for rattle cans.
now it’s time to get back to the detail work. The body is going into a bubble for a couple of days, then I may attempt a shot of clear of this whole debacle.

Engine details! Love the additional details from the AMT Starliner engine, the carb looks awesome(shame to have to cover it with an aircleaner( still hunting for a nice one)) details of fuel pump, filter and ign coil are tidy indeed. Engine is wired. Not to get the exhaust manifolds on and start tinkering with exhaust (ugh).

I know it's nit-picking but the (Starliner) kit-provided fuel line looks to be slightly out of scale. Like by 2" or so.  It's almost the same size as the oil filler neck. ?

Something like this would be kool.

It would have to be a custom fab job for me as I have nothing in my stash that even remotely looks like that

Todays mission as I so chose to take it is chassis and suspension. All the major assemblies are ready to apply to the chassis. Exhaust modifications are complete and this should all fit together nicely as it’s been tested a couple of times, then I can retire the mock up frame that I had from another glue bomb rescue from a couple of years back. Frame has a base coat of semi gloss black and then a top coat of Gun metal. Front a rear suspension have been coated in gloss black.
Question: was red the only colour on hot rod bullet mufflers in the 60’s?

I only recall two choices back then for glas-paks. Thrush and Cherry Bomb (which was a metallic red if my memory serves me. I like to use stop light red on those. If I make the other type to emulate a Thrush-type muff, I'll just go with maybe arctic or metallic blue.  Purple is a good color too.

Thanks guys, I went with red, waiting for a little bit of paint to dry and then o should be able to continue with some more chassis assembly

Mock-up! Mock-up! Mock-up! ?

Slapped it all together with some chewing gum an cello tape. Stock air cleaner unpainted as it may not be staying.

Chassis is complete, man it looks good all shiny n new.  Really like the small details in this kit, firewall is nice and pretty easy to get some detail paint done. Next is the interior need to get another coat of colour on the dash to get it all set in place

I have not commented until now, but I've been following this build. The color is absolutely perfect for this car. It's outside the norm of what Mercs are usually painted and is drop dead gorgeous. The engine work is great too. I love those valve covers and I would like to know where they came from. The interior is complimenting the exterior color perfectly and is very subtle and classy. I love everything about your build.
