Another of life's most aggravating frustrations is dealing with women who actually mean "you need to center your life around me and forget about your own aspirations, goals, and sense of ethics" when they say "I love you".

EDIT: I thought when I hit geezer status I wouldn't have this kind of problem anymore. Well sporty, guess again.

Reminds me of an old classic story I just finished rereading; 'Leave Her to Heaven'.

There are 3 options for any kind of repair or product building service: CHEAP, FAST, and GOOD. If you want it cheap and fast it won't be good, If you want it good and cheap it won't be fast, If you want it fast and good it won't be cheap.

Pretty much what I've always told my clients. There's cheap, fast, and good. Choose two.  B)

In an ancient letter to friends in Greece, a man wrote

'Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable -if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things'

Today's version often seems to be "Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - tear it down, ridicule it, try to discredit it and then destroy every trace because it might oppress somebody".

Many people who can't make anything think that people who can make anything should do it for the same wages as a Walmart greeter.

I'm sure you've heard the story about the electrician who charged Henry Ford something like 10K just to fix a generator that had went bad...... He had to give Ford an itemized list for the bill. He wrote '$1 to fix generator, $9,999 for knowing how to fix it'.........

Yeah, there's a few versions of that parable going around, one having to do with smacking something with a hammer, and when the outraged client screamed "ALL YOU DID WAS HIT IT WITH A HAMMER!!!!! I DEMAND AN ITEMIZED INVOICE !!!!!!"

The invoice stated "Smacking the whatzit with a hammer, $1. "Knowing where to smack it, $9999".

labor ............... $25 @ hour

if you watch ... $35

if you help ...... $75

If you've already tried to fix it yourself, or had it in a chimp shop.....$200/hr.

If you tell me there's nothing wrong with it because another shop fixed everything but it just won't run now....$1500 for a priest to drive the demons out, then $400/hr after they're gone.
