Jürgen M. Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 HI everyone, since I don´t have any space at the moment to build a completely new truck model I decided to rework this one: Not long ago I had built this Pete with a scratch camper box from this Revell easy to build kit: This was the reference picture: To tell the truth I was never really satisfied with it and thought that this nice truck deserves something more worthy. So I removed the camper box and decided to make something new! I´m printing a sleeper for it at the moment since I had used the original sleeper for my Diamond Reo Conventional! When that´s finished I´ll make a tanker out of it. It´s already designed and I hope it turns out good. I´ve changed the nozzle of my printer from a 0.4 to a 0.2mm and hope that the printing lines will be reduced a bit. At the moment the truck looks like this: It´s a bit dusty but I can fix that in no time. The printing will take quite a while since the printing speed is reduced by 50%. Gives me time to do some cosmetics! 4
Biggu Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 I probably shouldn’t post my stuff on your thread but I saw this unit in. The summer time in Alberta. Kind of the best of both worlds. JM , if you wud rather I not post this on your thread , I will remove it. I don’t want to do any hijacking, thought it might give you another idea ……. Jeff 2
Jürgen M. Posted November 3, 2024 Author Posted November 3, 2024 No problem Jeff! Thanks for the pics! Maybe I'll make a new one sometime! 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 9, 2024 Author Posted November 9, 2024 The sleeper is printed! The tank is in progress! 2
Gary Chastain Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) That looks really, going with a fifth wheel on this ? Rear fenders might look good on this build. Edited November 9, 2024 by Gary Chastain Add verbage 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 9, 2024 Author Posted November 9, 2024 Thanks! No fifth wheel on this one! The tank goes right on the frame! Might make a three axle tank trailer. But only if I get my show case done! 1

Jeff That looks like a pick-up bed camper built to sit on the lockers. What a great idea! 1

Force Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Interesting. But please fix the rear wheels, they should look like this with the tires outside the raised lip: 2
Jürgen M. Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 Yes, I know I have to fix that. Maybe I'll use selfmade wheels and other tires! The tires on this one are so stiff that they won't fit on the outside of the rims. 1

Jürgen M. Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 Here's some pics of the new parts for the Pete! The sleeper. The fit of the roof hast to be improved! There are still rests of support structure material in between. I printed the roof with sort of a collar to make it slip onto the sleeper walls. When that's gone it'll fit! These are the sleeper parts. And this is the tank in printing progress: Also here the support structures need to be tanken off. The ends will be next. 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 The tank is printed. The ends and the support brackets will follow! 4
RoninUtah Posted November 10, 2024 Posted November 10, 2024 Looking good! Are you going to give it a pintle hook and eventually make a dolly and tank trailer? 1

Yes, I probably will. But as I said, first the show case needs to be built. Otherwise no more space! The Pete already had a parking space on the shelf. ? The trailer hast to wait! Sorry! 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 I decided to use different rims! I snapped off the plastic axles, drilled holes and cut 2mm brass rods to length! 2
Jürgen M. Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 (edited) These will be the chosen ones! The inner rims are my "standard" printed rims including hubs, the outside rims are the classic AMT chromed rims. Tires are the soft rubber Revell ones from kits like the Black Magic PB. I order those directly from Revell, which belongs to Carrera now and moved to Austria! Got 30 pcs of them a while ago. Will need them for the trailer! Of course not all of them but 12 + 2 for the spares! Edited November 10, 2024 by Jürgen M. 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 I changed my mind about the rims! I'll use self made 5-hole rims with oval holes on the outside couse the gap between the "twins" would be too big with the AMT rims! This is a pic of the same rims, I used them on the belly dump of my K123 Convoy truck. Brake drums Inside wheels with hubs! Tank needs to be sanded and primered. Pipes will be longer! I snapped off the other ones. They we're shortened to fit underneath the camper box. Not neccessary anymore! 4
Jürgen M. Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) The pipes are ready for chrome! Unfortunately my chrome spray is empty! Have to order a new one! I'll need it for the tanks of the truck and trailer and maybe for the rims unless I decided to paint them in blue like the truck! Edited November 11, 2024 by Jürgen M. 2
Biggu Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) Short stacks certainly have a place …… many years ago , when I was just starting out, I was driving a GMC Brigadier gravel truck and it had beautiful tall twin chrome stacks, she was a beauty…. Had to haul a load of gravel to a mill site under some very large steam pipes, got in and dumped the load and then couldn’t get out! Once the load was dumped the truck rose up a little bit because of the weight transfer and I was stuck ! With a lot of fiddling about we got out, but holy, that was a real learning curve. After that I had a fond love for shorter stacks. ??? There is always something to learn when truckin …. Edited November 11, 2024 by Biggu 1
Jürgen M. Posted November 11, 2024 Author Posted November 11, 2024 Wow, things you don't think of before they happen! I liked the short stacks too, but in this case I prefer long ones! 1

Also is that chrome paint worth the exorbitant cost? It sure is pricey, I just wonder if it actually works?
