Biggu Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Your ability to change directions and over come obstacles to take your vision to fruition is astounding. Not sure I have that ability without lots of time to figure a new direction. Your tank will set very well with the Pete. Nice combination.
Jürgen M. Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Thank you Jeff! Looking at your Hayes, just as one example, I must say your skills are not any less than mine or anyone elses. I really appreciate your words and hope this build will reach expectations! Rockford Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 First time I've seen woodscrews used on this forum and it would have to be you Jürgen! Hats off to you for resourcefulness. Looks bonzer too. 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 Thanks Steve! Nice of you to say that! It was a spontaneous idea to use screws since glue between plastic and metall doesn't hold as secure and since it's not seen anymore after assembly I thought it would be the most solid solution! 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 The chrome is on! I decided to also chrome the front end. The rear is blue! Now I have to wait till I can remove the masking tape! Can't touch the chrome for a few days and even then it's critical! The rims are primered and will be chromed soon. 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 Thanks! It's better than on the truck tank! Still I'm not 100% satisfied but I'll leave it that way! 2

Your welcome. I never noticed anything wrong on the truck tank besides the decals will be the main attraction. 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 16, 2024 Author Posted December 16, 2024 You're probably right! They do make the whole thing more authentic and give it sort of an own personality! 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) Got some small stuff done! Put the marker lights on the screws heads and "connected" them! Got the idea from my R.D. tanker! And I got a fingerprint on the front end! 🙈 Luckily I planned to put a decal there anyway! So no harm done! Could have happened some other, more critical spot! BK9300 Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 That's a great idea to cover up the screw heads! Works perfectly 2 1
Jürgen M. Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) Wheels are finished and mounted! The spare is a plastic, 2-piece Italeri tire mounted on a printed rim. The chromed ones are printed rims with Revell soft rubber tires! Now I can mount the tank on the chassis and begin with the peripheric parts! Ladder, rear marker lights, tailgate, mud flaps, toolbox, .... ! Edited December 17, 2024 by Jürgen M. 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 The tank is mounted and the broken off rear crash guard too. 2
BK9300 Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 That’s a sweet looking trailer, Jürgen - you’re going to need your new display case sooner than you thought! 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 Thanks! I'm hurrying! 🤯 I'll be getting the material tomorrow! 👍 2
Gary Chastain Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 (edited) Well done my friend, going to look great on the shelf Edited December 17, 2024 by Gary Chastain Spellcheck is wrong again 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 17, 2024 Author Posted December 17, 2024 Thanks Gary! Hope to begin building my show case shortly! Need space urgently! 😬 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 Some more progress: Put on the decals last night. Fenders this morning. Had to lower the dolly a bit so it would fit perfectly into the hitch. Hope to finish it before the weekend! Still need to add the rear marker lights, toolbox, pump hoses on the sides, mud flaps for the front fenders, ...! I even designed a fire extinguisher with a box. Hope that looks good. If it does I'll add one to the truck too! 3
Jürgen M. Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 A little bit closer to fulfillment! The tool box and the fire extinguisher are almost finished! When the paint is dry and the parts are ready to handle I'll just have to make the window boxes for the extinguishers! Then the air lines from truck to trailer! More soon! 4
Biggu Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 THAT….. my friend is absolutely COOL !!! Full points for this one , it looks really sweet, I love it !!! It will be just perfect with the Pete. A perfect truck and pup set up. Super cool JM !!! And a great way to cover and make the tank with folding the metal, a real shot at realism. GOOD job !! 1
BK9300 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 (edited) I go to sleep on my side of the world, and you finish your tanker on your side! Awesome looking with all your decals in place, Jürgen! Edited December 18, 2024 by BK9300 Typo 2
Jürgen M. Posted December 18, 2024 Author Posted December 18, 2024 Thanks very much Guys! I'm quite satisfied with it myself! A few more things to do and it'll be ready for "Under Glass"! 2
