Modelbuilder Mark Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I have a large supply of MM Lacquer system, and I have a question. I have noticed that some of them SAY 2 part (basecoat/clearcoat) on the side of the can, while others doe not yet they share the same paint#. Are ANY of those that say Custom Lacquer System 2 part? I have a bunch that I have bought over time, but not used.
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 It’s my understanding that the “Custom Lacquer System” was always intended to be a base coat/clear coat system. Now of course a “fabric” color, while within the same system, wouldn’t be clear coated for obvious reasons. Steve 2
64SS350 Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 My advice is to try and use them up, and at minimum....store in a container of some sort. I have had several eat through the can seams and leak.....some profusely if not detected in time. 1
kensar Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 One interpretation of the label could be that the base color and clear coat are combined in the same can and no additional clear coat is needed.
Mike 1017 Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 I used Fabric Tan and Fabric Gray, but I just spayed them over gray or white primer. They also had a 2-part white vinyl roof system that I used with great results. I still have about a 1/2 can of tan left. Mike 1

I bought a lot of paint from Hobby Lobby when they were clearing them out, and any time I found a good deal. I have a lot of paint, probably too much. Thanks to everyone else for your input. 1
