camelback springs is something you only want to do once !

Yes I’ve never done it but I’ve seen it done in our shop a couple times replacing the bushings around the bottom main bar that ties the Right and Left spring stack together and watched them replace a couple leaves after that they decided to let Mack do that headache. It’s not like a Reyco for sure.

Looking forward to seeing this  come together.

Thanks Steve for stopping by. I’m trying to get this done before the snow melts so I can get a pic of it I've been wanting.

I finally got the frame done and the hinge plate installed for the Dump Bed not my best surgery it was one of those days my hands and fingers wouldn't do what my mind wanted

This morning I decided to paint my Engine Mack Power Grey instead of the Maxidyne Gold. I bought this can of paint many years ago at St.Louis Mack. I tried to get it to work but I couldn’t so I found a Grey pretty close to it. I drove a 1979 Mack Superliner back in 1990 and I remember the engine was grey from the factory because my Dad drove for the guy who bought it new in 1979 so I figured why not a late 1978 R model could of had one.

yep....the building was always immaculate with a big bulldog sign out front,,,,,,,,,,,and the Mack dealer we always got our stuff from,Glashofer Mack on Rt1 in Edison is long gone too,,,they had a huge Mack Truck logo with the bulldog on a billboard on their roof ,,,,that was torn down and the Cambria Company took the dealership and moved to another part of town along with selling Volvos Cambria Truck Center - With Locations in Edison & Elizabeth, NJ - Truck Dealership with Parts, Service and Financing

Mack dealer

Thanks for sharing that Scott would like to have liked seen that. St. Louis Mack had the Mack script like on the side of the hoods in big red letters on the front of the building facing Jefferson st. Dad said in the 50s the show room always had a couple B models in the show room and at night they would have lights on them the way he described made you feel like you were right there. They move from there to Saugett Illinois. My old boss bought 43 brand new CHU613 and 2 CHX613 off the lot from there the year before they moved.

mack kits are a challenge to build!

Yes they are I don’t remember them being such a challenge like this one has guess because of the molds are wore and I’m not as patient and my hands don’t listen like I was 45 years ago either 😂 Thanks for dropping in hope to get a lot done today.

Well I have a rolling frame now. I wish I would’ve used my older kit tires these tires a like working with mush. They are way too soft for my liking. Next I’ll be working on the details on this chassis.

I like the combo colour on your wheels, Lee - nice touch for this truck!

Thank Brian me too.

The rolling chassis looks awesome and I really like the gray engine along with the history that's been added.

On the tires - I'm probably the only person that liked the old two piece kit ones.  I use to buy junker kits and parts just for them.

If I did use soft ones I stuffed them with pieces of tissue paper , paper towels or whatever I could find to fill them out.

Made some progress today. First I made a scratch build Operating tower the two pieces of frame I cut off and the Trolley break handle this was ordered this way with out the trolley brake and some other levers I found. Still have to paint and add some more details.

I painted the Interior the darker tan Mack had and the seats a light tan.

Built the salt spreader and other Dump Bed components. Thanks for looking in.

Really like how you put together the control tower, Lee - looks like it should have been part of the kit - great stuff!
