Jürgen M. Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) Hi again! I finally got my show case finished and when I did I began moving some trucks from my workshop shelf into the cabinet! That's when I noticed that the Mack Cruiseliner, which I hadn't touched in ages, was falling apart just like the Alaskan Hauler before. The rear suspension was just like a mock-up, as if there had never been glue! Anyway, to make a long story short, I repaired the suspension, had to print new axles cause the originals had become brittle and I chose to print new wheels (more Mack like) and slipped on Italeri rubber tires! I didn't change the color. Just had to remix that old yellow to paint the axles. Oh yes, I also added a new steerable front axle! This is it before taking it apart: Partially knocked down: New axles (printed), drive shafts and brake chambers (out of the box) and a bit of cosmetics using a Molotow pen: New wheels... ...and the "new" old Mack: Wasn't that much to do. Added a few new decals and that was it. Oh yes, this is the new show case I made: Maybe some of you recognize one or the other model! Thanks for dropping in! 😊 Edited January 18 by Jürgen M. 4
BK9300 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Good to see the display case - better access to viewing your builds than when they were up on the shelf! How long ago was your Cruiseliner built, that the glue was failing?
Jürgen M. Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 I built it around '82 or '83! Same as the Alaskan Hauler! There was practically no more adhesion. Makes it easy to take it apart without breaking parts! 1
RoninUtah Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Looks better now than it ever did! Love the display case- some familiar looking builds in there!
Jürgen M. Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 Thanks very much, Ron. I didn't want to change much of the Mack. The small wheels bugged me and since I had to knock it down anyway, I grabbed the opportunity and changed them. Thanks also for your words about the case. I do believe that I have probably introduced each and everyone one the trucks inside.
