Hello Everybody!

It's time for an update!

With a lightly weathered engine, the chassis is mostly completed.

Now it's time for the test-fit mockup for the next stages of assembly.

These parting lines will require some attention. It looks like I'll stripping the chrome plating to clean up this bit and some other areas.

Looking good so far, I think your test build stand of truck looks very proper!  Love the color on the tanks too.

David - I love the work you're doing here. Those kit wheels always look 100% better with a dull coat on them, and the fuel tank re-work is top notch!

Thank you Sean. I have a way that I work with wheels when I can leave the factory chrome intact.

I first give them a coat of Tamiya Flat Clear, which leaves them a little frosty looking. This gives me a good base for any detail painting or panel line accenting I want to do. After I get the wheels looking like I want them to, I hit them with Tamiya Clear to shine them back up a little.

The front wheels are a good example.

Thank you Steve.

That's the color I plan for the rest of the truck, Tamiya TS-19 Metallic Blue. I think it will go nicely with the kit decals.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Hello Everybody!

First color shot on the body! Tamiya TS-19 Metallic Blue, I really like the way it looks and it should compliment the kit decals nicely.

The fenders went well, I won't need to do anything else with them. The hood has a few flaws but nothing I can't handle.

Hello Everybody!

Due to a number of reasons I haven't had much of a chance to work on my builds lately. But I did manage to get a good coat of Tamiya TS-19 Metallic Blue sprayed on the cab. I'm pleased with how it turned out but now I see that the hood and fenders will need another coat to darken them up a little.

I also got the grille and headlights properly cleaned up and primed. I'll need to decide how I want to "re-chrome" them.

Great progress, David - the blue is a striking colour.  Your improved chrome parts should really stand out next to that colour!

Hello Everybody!

I'm slowly getting back into the build habit. The interior is masked and ready for the next color Tamiya AS-10.

It looks pretty good. A little touchup and detail painting should help bring it to life.

Here is a shot of the 359 paired with my recently completed Revell Auto Transport Trailer. When the rig is completed, it will be displayed in this repurposed bookshelf. I plan on adding a plexiglass door and some lighting but that's a project for another time.

That's all for this round. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to share your thoughts, comments and critiques.

Some nice model cars you have for a load, David!

Thank you Carl. Over the years, you've probably seen most of them here on the board.

Hello Everybody!

I'm no fan of unfinished plastic interiors. Though it may not be entirely visible once the model is finished, I decided to make some upholstery the back wall of the sleeper using an aluminum cover I'd saved from an old pet food container.

Painted in Tamiya AS-10 Gray it's a pretty good match to the rest of the upholstery.

Though it may not be easily seen, I think once everything is put together it will still be visible.

At least I'll know it's there. ;)

That’s a good idea, David - really finishes off the sides and back wall of your cab - very interesting solution!
