Finished writing this one recently. The story behind this kit is rather fascinating. This iconic bike kit was designed by the legendary model designer Kazuo Okabe, once worked at Tamiya whose famous works include the first Tamiya 1/12 big scale Honda RA273, the first Tamiya 1/6 – Honda CB750 Four, and the 1/25 Tiger 1. This level of craftsmanship that can be seen in this kit is almost missing nowadays, even though modern design and production have become much easier with computers.

A really fascinating article! I've always thought about getting some of the 1:9 Protar bikes, but never felt I was up to the challenge.

Thank you so much, Ken! I gotta try some of their 1/9 kits as well. I found the pre-1970 racing bikes so attractive.

I have got a  1974 Ducati 750 Sport (Protar 1/9) from my brother as a present for my 60th birthday - for me, one of the most beautiful bikes ever !
