junkyardjeff Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I have this mess of a couple Revell 57 Rancheros from the 60s that I am trying to do something with, glue is being soaked in mineral spirits and will see how it goes. Watching a couple top chopped versions on eBay to possibly use for parts. 1
LennyB Posted February 14 Posted February 14 This looks like something I would do.😄 I'll be watching the progress. 1
junkyardjeff Posted February 14 Author Posted February 14 The cut up one was the donor for the half Ranchero/56 F 100.
junkyardjeff Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 Found this and the rough ones are on the back burner for awhile. 1
Sledsel Posted February 16 Posted February 16 (edited) I'll be watching this because I actually enjoy this kit. It was my very first build. Bought it an Open Pantry convenience store in the old Advent box! I mentioned it before but other than the short roof the body is more accurate than the newer Revell 57's I have a few of these myself and I'll give you a hint, go ahead and assemble the body first. I sanded the ridge out of the top of the front fenders, filled and smoothed them and added the the ridge back with 1/2 round. A little sanding on the rear quarter will correct the body line. It tapers down in front of the rear tire. The front fender between the bumper and body line needs sanded because it is too thick. AMT front bumper, valance and grill work great. The Revell grill works, but that front bumper and valance are incorrect. Edited February 16 by Sledsel 1
junkyardjeff Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 I plan on getting a AMT grille and front bumper but that built original version I got off eBay has a correct 57 grille and bumper.
junkyardjeff Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 I am also going to use the rims and hub caps from the latest Revell 57 kits.
