The mid engined 1969 Corvin Getaway was created by Afro-American photographer and designer Cliff Hill. He  wanted it to serve as both an inexpensive, agile city car suited to Los Angeles driving conditions, and a source of reliable, well-paying jobs that would allow Black families in Los Angeles to build wealth. He envisioned that it is build by Black hands in a Black community. He starts with to work on the car shortly after the Watts Riots in Los Angeles in 1965. The only prototype was finished in 1969. Many black celebrities like Sidney Portier, Muhammed Ali or Marvin Gaye supported the presentation of the Getaway at the 1970 Los Angeles Auto Show. Hall couldn't get enough money together to get the Getaway into production . He stored it for many years in his garage. First he loaned the Getaway to the Peterson Auto Museum later he donated it to the museume. It was fully restored in 2018.

Under the fibreglass's body was originally a motorcycle engine  and transmission planned. The only prototype was powered by a 4 cylinder Subaru engine that was mated to a Subaru transmission.

Ah, I started searching before you posted this, even though I answered after. My misadventures are in my message!

PM'd. Cool little car. Too bad it didn't make it to production.

I would have most definitely wanted one.

Small, agile, mid-engined.

Yeah baby.   B)

EDIT: Looks like it could have made a great kit-car.
