John M. Posted March 8 Posted March 8 (edited) This is from a local Boston TV Station. Recovery teams in Oregon pull a Ford Station Wagon from the Columbia River that may belong to a family who disappeared while on a Christmas outing back in 1959. https://whdh.com/news/mystery-solved-a-submerged-car-from-the-1950s-may-belong-to-a-missing-oregon-family/ Edited March 8 by John M. 1
Mark Posted March 8 Posted March 8 I was watching that for a while yesterday; the car was upside down, and they pulled up the frame of the car with at least a couple of the wheels still attached. It was mostly buried under stones and silt, they were using a vacuum of some sort to clear all of that away. What was visible looked fairly intact, as it's in fresh water as opposed to salt water. It will be interesting to see what they find out. There was a similar case some years back; they pulled the car out with the transmission still in Drive which would indicate the car had driven in as opposed to being pushed in in neutral. 1

I looked at TV and newspapers from Oregon online for more information and the Oregonian newspaper said the car's body will be retrieved from the river soon.
