Im not positive but I believe the Mr. Hobby paint is similar to Tamiya. Some sort of a acrylic lacquer. I have used both the spray and the bottle paints. I treat them exactly like the Tamiya paints and never had any issues. Ive also used them over each other  and had no compatibility issues

The Mr. Color paints are on my "must try" list after seeing a few builds using them on the forum. I've already used the Mr. Color Leveling thinner (worked well with decanted Testors and Tamiya lacquers), and I have a few spray cans of their 1500 primer yet to try.

The labelling on the bottles I have seen in person doesn't have a lot of English on them, so it doesn't really help when eyeing them up on the paint rack in the hobby shop. Based on a conversation with the owner of the hobby shop, they come in aqueous acrylic and acrylic lacquer, much like Tamiya paints. The retailer (online or brick & mortar) you choose will hopefully be able to break down what is what.

So far i have only tried the Mr. Hobby primers. I can shoot and "lacquer" over them.

Do they make other paints? I have to do some research.

Mr Hobby, is the line of paints. These are divided into Mr Hobby Aqueous, as mentioned above. And Mr Color. Mr Color being lacquers ( the stinky kind, though relatively speaking, on the mild side) and Mr Hobby Aqueous being alcohol based acrylics. Mr Color is cleaned up with solvents like lacquer thinner or acetone.. And Aqueous with water based products, water itself or Fantastik, Media airbrush cleaner, acrylic paint cleaners etc.

That's in terms of paints, colors, clears. Then you have the primers, mainly Mr Surfacer. It's all  very comparable to Tamiya products. Though they do have a Mr Hobby Metals line too.

The Mr. Color clear coat looks very interesting to me, have to add that to my "must try" list of products too.

Long before Tamiya launched their LP line in bottles, Mr. Color offered lacquers in bottles. For those that want variety and care to mix their own shades for airbrushing, the bottled options are attractive.

If you want to try the Mr. Color lacquer bottled primer, paints and clear you won't be disappointed.  For sure tho, use the Mr. Hobby 400 leveling thinner. But, the Mr. Surfacer (primers), especially the black and the thinner is hard to find lately.
