I used to build model cars as a teenager in the 1990s.. It's been a while and I wanted to get back into it, so I dusted off the monogram Lotus Espirit kit I had been holding on to for all these years.  I should have done some research first, as I quickly realized this was a pretty challenging kit.  It really kicked my butt.. vague instructions, parts that you can't tell how they fit until you place 2 or 3 subsequent parts.. plus I'm sure some of the parts had warped over the years.  I used Rustoleum gloss white for the body.. I think it went on too thick, I probably did 1 or 2 too many coats. Anyway, it's done, I had fun, and glad I'm getting back into the craft. I'm ready to start another.. let me know what i need to work on.. any suggestions are appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to the hobby. Always good to see another Lotus on the forum. This kit is a tough one, for sure. One issue with this kit, as you've likely noticed, is it rides too high when build straight out of the box. No worries though, good looking Lotus.

If I had one piece of advice; dump the Rustoleum and get yourself some Tamiya paints. They are very user-friendly, lay down thinly, and look great.

Thanks.. yeah I definitely struggled with the ride height.. I think I read after the fact that I should have trimmed/customized to make it fit better.  Yes, for sure Rustoleum was a bad choice. Tamiya is the way to go for sure.. I have a Lincoln Mark VII ready to go next that will be getting the Tamiya treament.  Will post those soon.
