Duddly01 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Just completed the build on the Revell 1962 Volkswagen 23 Window Samba Bus. Paint is Scale Finishes correct Blue-White over Teal Green topped off with Splash paints 2K clear. The multi-piece body was quite a chore to get to fit together well and I did assemble the body and modify the chassis before painting. I could never have gotten it to fit afterwards per the instructions. I also made a match surfboard to go with it. UPDATE: I have replaced all of the pictures for this post today. I found several issues my OCD just could not live with. I redid the deluxe stainless trim that goes around the entire body fixed some other smaller issues and decided I couldn’t live with the canvas samba roof. I decided to make one from scratch from cotton cloth. I will be taking new photos later today. if you missed the WIP thread you can check it out here: Edited May 11 by Duddly01 10
DJMar Posted May 3 Posted May 3 She's an absolute beauty! The color scheme is perfect. As usual, I dig the LED lighting, and that surfboard is a great touch. Also, you work fast. I'm still sanding mold lines on mine. 1

I actually thought this one took me quite awhile at just over 6 weeks. 😀 I can’t actually take credit for the color combination, this was my daughter’s choice to go with blue-white over Teal Green. I would have gone with Ivory over Seal Wax red. The whole build was her idea. She slipped the kit in my cart a while back when we were picking up supplies at my local hobby shop and said I had to build it, SOON! 😁 The license plate is actually her nickname and favorite number. 1 1

OldSkool81 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Beautiful!!! And the correct yellowish tint of the LEDs instead of pure white gives it that extra realism!!!! 1

May need to build a race car that doesn’t have lights to throw them off! 😉 2
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 That looks amazing! I may now be inspired to dig out my Revell VW camper. 1

STU111 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 G’day Donald, beautiful VW bus. The colour scheme suits it perfectly and the surfboard is a neat touch. I’m still working up the courage to get a start on mine ( multi piece body puts me off a little ), but if it turns out a quarter as good as yours, I’ll be happy. Top stuff. 👍🏻 1

Duddly01 Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 (edited) Well, I lied. The final pictures of the Revell 1962 Volkswagen Samba Bus were not final. I found several issues my OCD just could not live with. I redid the deluxe stainless trim that goes around the entire body fixed some other smaller issues and decided I couldn’t live with the canvas samba roof.
