53gmc Posted May 10 Posted May 10 What started off as an experiment is turning into another build. The wife ordered me the cracker box conversion from global trucks for my bday, so I got an astro as a donor. Figured I'd try my hand at chopping done the astro cab since I wasn't going to use it. Ended up turning out better than I thought it would so now I'm gonna build it too and order another astro or titan kit lol. 5
Gary Chastain Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Wow, that did turn out good. I love when experiments turn out good. 2
53gmc Posted May 12 Author Posted May 12 Spent a good part of the day fiddling around with mount locations. Shortened the fuel tanks as well 5
53gmc Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Got the frame painted and assembled. Chopped up and modified the kits exhaust to work with the shorter wheelbase. Trying to settle on a color for the cab and running the air foil or not. 6
RoninUtah Posted May 18 Posted May 18 Nice work! That looks really clean! I remember those Astro daycabs used by Safeway Stores for local hauls to their supermarkets in Northern California back in the 70s 1
BK9300 Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Looks good, Seth - did you add the cord to your CB or did it come with it? 1
The Brush Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Nice work , Brings back memories of one i built many years ago, Finished it red with gold leaf lettering in Stroths beer livery pulling AMT double trailers converted to flat sides. I have a picture of it if you`d like to see it. I look forward to seeing yours finished. 1

I might dig it out of storage clean & repair it Then put it on a new thread with more build details. Thanks for letting post this on your build thread. 1

I remember those going in and out of the Strohs brewery back in the day. They had a tour of the plant for people if they were interested. It started in the brew hall. Lots of free 🍺 🍻 beer!...lol Ron G 1

I wish I had the space for more trailers to do something similar
